Internships

The information below relates to the academic internship program at Tiffin University. In addition to the academic internship, we encourage students to complete additional internships and experiential learning to become even more competitive in the job market.

ACADEMIC INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The academic internship program at Tiffin University is an experiential learning opportunity that provides a link between the classroom and the workplace. It is an opportunity for you to learn about your area of academic interest through practical experience.

In today’s competitive job market, employers are looking for experience coupled with a college education. Internships allow you to gain work experience through an academic relationship with Tiffin University and an employer.

An internship is required for all of our undergraduate majors. Once you identify an internship, the first step will be to complete the internship application; this will require you to submit a job description along with the application and get signatures from a faculty supervisor, site supervisor, and the internship coordinator for your school. If you have any questions about the eligibility of your internship opportunity for academic credit, send additional details and the job description to the internship coordinator for your school prior to beginning the internship application.

Ultimately, it is your responsibility to find an internship. We do provide support for your internship search including resume reviews and a ‘plan of action’ for your internship search. Email careerservices@soongshinkid.com to schedule an appointment for your internship search!

Students in an undergraduate program must have complete 55 credit hours prior to the start of the internship and be in good academic standing in their major (2.50 cumulative grade point average) to enroll for an internship. Credit hours from previous institutions will be used in the total hours, which will qualify students for internships. Students must complete at least one semester at Tiffin University prior to being eligible to complete their internship. To comply with F-1 visa regulations, international students must complete a minimum of two full-time semesters at Tiffin University before starting an internship. Internship requirements are applicable to double degree and/or double majors. Additional requirements may be determined by departments. The internship application must be submitted to the Registrar for registration, prior to beginning the internship. If you have any questions about your eligibility and/or internship requirements, reach out to your School’s Internship Coordinator.

To learn more about the process to register your academic internship, review the Internship Registration Checklist. If you have any questions about the academic internship registration process, please contact your School Internship Coordinator or your academic advisor.
